European Life After Stroke Forum (ELASF)
10.03.2025 - 11.03.2025
There are around nine million stroke survivors currently living in Europe. Upon being discharged from a hospital, survivors and their families enter a world where support is usually undefined, fragmented or non-existent, and where cultural expectations dramatically impact quality of life and any success of ongoing recovery. We at SAFE understand the priority and attention given to the acute phase of stroke treatment. Yet, we believe that every saved life must also be well lived and that saving someone in the acute phase loses worth and significance if that person later dies from the lack of after care. Firmly believing that every step of the stroke care pathway matters equally, SAFE is now putting focus on stroke survivors and their life after stroke challenges, by organising the second European Life After Stroke Forum (ELASF), on 10-11 March 2025 in Prague, Czech Republic. The ELASF is driven by the need to implement the Stroke Action Plan for Europe and to create a network of stakeholders involved in professionally researching, advocating and providing evidence for improved life after stroke care.
